Lettering for ITC's 1937 AAR boxcars OR Modified 1937 AAR boxcars
In May 1937 the ITC received 100 1937 AAR design box cars from AC&F, Lot 1647, and assigned road numbers 6000-6099. In April 1941, an additional 200 cars were received from Pullman-Standard, Lot 2185, and assigned road numbers 6100-6299. In November 1944, the ITC took delivery of 200 Modified 1937 AAR design box cars from AC&F, Lot #2713. The series were numbered 6300-6499. Cars were painted a red-brown (1 part Floquil #74 and 1 part Floquil #186), underbody and truck side frames painted black car cement. Wheels were unpainted and allowed to rust and gather a coating of axle grease and road grime.
