Lettering for the 1937 AAR boxcar - as delivered or 1953 repaint scheme

In January of 1937, the C&EI took delivery of 500 1937 AAR box cars built by General American Transportion Corporation. Assigned series numbers 64000 through 64499. Cars were painted boxcar red with underframes and truck sideframes coated with black car cement. In the as-delivered scheme shown on #64103 above, the 6 foot Youngstown doors were painted black. In the 1953 repaint scheme below, car 64109 has a dierent “E” and has the railroad name lettered on the right side. Decal set designed and created at Protocraft Decals.
