lettering for Sand Springs 8’-7” IH boxcars

Part Number: SSRY-1

Price: $8.50

Sand Springs Railway Company was a 10 mile long electric line that supplied the oil industries along the route between Tulsa westward into the Arkansas
Valley.

In 1929 the SSRY bought 4 of the Fowler design boxcars from General American Car Company, numbering them as Series 120-123. The SSRY interchanged
with the Santa Fe, MKT and FRISCO, and so you would nd one or more of these 4 cars some distance away from the Company tracks from time to time.

In 1948, the SSRY contracted with the Frisco’s shops in Springeld, Missouri to recondition the cars, replacing the siding with steel sheathing and converting
to AB brakes. New stenciled herald applied with a blue-black color.

Lettering and artwork designed and created at Protocraft Decals
