500 of these Pratt-truss design boxcars were built in Great Northern’s St. Cloud shops in 1927 as Series 31000-31499. These cars saw long

use in revenue service as depicted by car 31174 - reweighed in Minneapolis in April 1961. Most cars were converted to AB brakes beginning

in 1947. (PSC #15531 is an all brass model closely resembling this car)
