Paint & Lettering: Recommended color is Oxide Red with a dash of orange added. It might be wise to add a 10-15% gray to cut down this a bit as it may look
too bright on a model.

Cars were delivered lettered without slogans. In August 1947, the short lived “SPANS THE WORLD” medallion was applied, and in 1950 the stepped
‘CANADIAN PACIFIC RAILWAY’ lettering was introduced. In 1962, this was replaced by the script version of “Canadian Pacific”. All schemes, with artwork by
Rick Leach, are available from Protocraft Decals.

Model of flat-panel roof car by Protocraft: PC-3531 Decal set designed and created at Protocraft Decals.

Both the Canadian National and Canadian Pacific adopted the new 1937 AAR design and proceeded to build over 19,000 boxcars each - using the three major Canadian car builders. Unique to the Canadian adoption was a copy of the Murphy flat panel roof (as opposed to the US built car’s which used the Murphy raised panel roof), the specific Canadian ladder-strirup combination; the CP’s different (from the CN) rib arrangement for an unusual 5/5 Dreadnaught end.  All employed the square corner end design, wood running boards and Apex Power hand brake assemblies.  Beautifully constructed at Boo Rim Precison in Korea using builder’s drawings for a very accurate model.  Accurate decals for 3 different paint scheme are available at Protocraft Decals.  Cars come with Bettendorf style 50-ton trucks with ball bearings and working journal covers.  Wheels are hardened steel sintered rib-back design.  Specify O scale or Proto:48.
