In April 1944, the IHB, an affiliate of the NYC, took delivery of 400 Modified 1937 AAR design box cars built at NYC’s Despatch Shops in East Rochester, NY, Lot 730-B. These series of cars were numbered 10600-10999. Cars were painted NYC red-brown (1 part Floquil #88 and 3 parts Floquil #175) Underbody and truck side frames painted black car cement. Wheels were unpainted and allowed to rust and gather a coating of axle grease. Lettering designed and sized at Protocraft Decals. Lettering and artwork by Norm Buckhart.

This lettering set letters both cars depicted in the photos above - while the cars are the same, be sure to denote the differences in the lettering to place the decals correctly. Note that 10962 lettering is spaced slightly closer together, and the medallion and lettering are not stenciled like 10898, and are placed higher on the car closer to the roof. This is a difference between paint shops and personnel, each with their own stencil cards.

Background color shown above is not included in decal sheet
