Lettering for KCS's 1937 AAR boxcars - 1950's scheme
In January, 1937, the KCS took delivery of 750 boxcars of the 1937 AAR design. 450 cars were built by Pullman-Standard, Lot 5543, and assigned road numbers17000-17449. At th same time General American Transporation Corp in warren, Ohio delivered an additional 300 cars and assigned road numbers 17450-17749. Both had an IH of 9’-8” and were later renumbered into the 14000 series. Cars were painted a red-brown (1 part Floquil #74 and 1 part Floquil #186). Underbody and truck side frames coated with black car cement. Decal sheet designed and created at Protocraft Decals. Background color shown above is not included in decal sheet |
