The Missouri Pacific received 100, 50’ double-door boxcars in December of 1941 from American Car & Foundry under Lot 2317 and 2319.  Series was 86150-86174 and 88300-88339 respectively.  An additional Lot 2318, remained in freight service as Series 88400-88434, painted freight car brown.  All of the first two Lots were placed in express passenger service in 1942, painted passenger green with DULUX gold lettering.  These were fitted with steam lines and either Allied Full Cushion high speed trucks, or General Steel Casting’s BX trucks. In June of 1951, cars were repainted into the MP’s Eagle scheme.

Cars were constructed with a fish-belly underframe, Murphy Raised panel roof, 5/5 Dreadnaught ends with round (W) corner construction, and 4/6 double-riveted sides with a 10’-6” inside height, Ajax Power hand brake and Apex Tri-Lok running boards.  Three types of trucks are available with this model.
