The NYC received 1,073 of the new design 1937 AAR boxcars as their one and only order for these in August 1942 under Despatch Shops, Inc. Lot 779 (703-B) as Series 157000-158072; in March 1944, subsidiary Indiana Harbor Belt received 600 cars from Dispatch Shops under DSI Lot 812 as Series 10000-10599 (729-B); and subsidiary P&LE received 500 cars in July 1940, built by Pressed Steel Car Co under Lot 119, as Series 30000-30499 (682-B)  All of these cars received at least 3 repaint and lettering schemes and Protocraft Decals has them all in stock.

Following Pressed Steel plans, Boo Rim Precision of Korea built 40 models of these cars to exacting standards.  The prototype was built with Standard Railway Equipment’s 4/5 Dreadnaught ends, wood running boards, 7/7 Wine ladders, Murphy raised panel roofs supplied by Chicago-Hutchins Co, Ajax power hand brake equipment, and the new and stronger round (W) corner bracing, Royal-F brake adjuster, and roping staples mounted on bolster ends.

Models are available in either O scale or Proto:48 - please specify in your order.
