Lettering for 1930 8'-7" IH steel boxcars - 1943 white scheme

Part Number: NB-2

Price: $8.50

The Northampton & Bath received 218 cars between 1931 and 1935 that were originally built by AC&F, Lot 9577, in 1923 in an order for 300 cars for Universal Portland Cement, Series 701-1000. (Note: Hannibal Connecting received an additional 65 cars from Portland Cement. The remainder of the cars went to Universal Atlas Cement Co.) For a comprehensive study of individual car numbers it is best to consult the charts in Ed Hawkins and Pat Wider’s RP CYC , Vol 21, page 90. Around 1943, a number of these cars appeared painted o.-white with black lettering.

Little information is known about the series of cars that were included nor the period this paint scheme spanned. Only these two images are available. N&B 774 appears to be painted with a light gray as compared to the paper on the tack board, but this could easily be a coating of road grime and oxidation. The half photo below appears to match the white lettering of the DL&W boxcar coupled to it. It would probably be correct to paint these cars o.-white. Lettering set designed and created at Protocraft Decals

Background color shown above is not included in decal sheet
