lettering for X29 boxcar - Railway Express Service

Part Number: PRR X29 REA

Price: $8.50

Between 1924 and 1928, the Pennsylvania built, or had built, 29,656 Class X29 boxcars, which made up approximately one third of the PRR’s boxcar inventory. Many of the cars remained in revenue service up through the 1960’s.

There does not seem to be dedicated number blocks for cars assigned to the Railway Express Agency service, except that they started in the 2000 Series. Not always the case per photo below of PRR 49734. Photos will necessarly be the guide. Almost all cars placed in REA service came equiped with steam lines.

Paint & Lettering: The cars were painted with the PRR’s oide red paint, including truck siderames, (wheels left unpainted and allowed to gather road grime) with white stencil paste lettering. Lettering set designed and created at Protocraft Decals

Background color shown above is not included in decal sheet
