Previous Return to list of all Freight Car Trucks in Proto:48 Next Barber S-2 70-ton roller bearing freight truck
Although the roller bearing trucks were not big sellers in the 1950’s due to the greater initial cost than trucks with solid bearings, the Barber S-2 fitted with roller bearings and a redesigned side frame by the 1960’s became one of the most common truck designs in the modern era of railroading. Using drawings from American Steel Foundries for the 70-ton roller bearing truck, Boo Rim Precison has captured the essence of this modern truck in all brass construction. With full brake detail and axle mounted rotating end caps running on machined steel wheels (33”) with the correct AAR profile, ball bearings and working springs to equalize train operations. |
