lettering set for SP’s Class G-50-16/27 drop-bottom gondolas - post 1956 scheme

Southern Pacic received 6,150 General Service gondola cars built after 1940. The steel cars pertaining to this lettering set were delivered

as follows:
 

Series 363725-364024, 300 cars, Mt. Vernon Car Co., (renumbered from 95200-95499), delivered Fall of 1944, Class G-50-16

Series 364025-364724, 550 cars, Bethlehem Steel Corp, (renumbered from 89854-90403), delivered 1946, Class G-50-18

Series 151000-152649, 1,650 cars, Bethlehem Steel Corp, delivered Fall of 1948, with A-3 Ride Control trucks - Class GS-22

Series 153650-153099, 450 cars, S.P. Equipment Co, Sacramento, CA, delivered Fall of 1953, with Barber S-2-AO trucks - Class 27
 

In 1956, all these cars were renumbered into the 360000 Series for steel cars
